Bliss at the Walker Residence because the Youngest Mr. Walker was here for a visit, after a summer of very hard working. And double bliss this time, because he brought along a great friend and co-worker. And before the study year starts again, I had a chance to spoil these to two!
Now it is clear that these two could not be more different from the outside: very tall Dutch boy and a ‘somewhat shorter’ Hong Kong girl. But believe me, it was like having twins in the house! No wonder they are such good friends.
Since we all love making photos, we went on a lovely summer night to Smale Riverfront Park here in Cincinnati and enjoyed how so many people love this place. To me, a great lover of city parks, it has everything! Artful waterworks, great sceneries, creative playgrounds.
We spent hours here and enjoyed the Blue Moon as well.
Gezellig, de Jongste Meneer Walker was hier voor een bezoek, en dubbelgezellig want hij bracht een goede vriendin en collega mee. It may just be your photos but that looks like such a vibrant, exciting part of the city! It’s so nice to share what you like about your town with visitors–it always gets me to see my region with new eyes, when I see it with others. But, but . . . where’s my Charley girl?
Cincinnati is for sure not that exciting as Chicago or New York, but I do love living here. Many parts of the town are rejuvenated and with that comes better circumstances for living for so many people. This is a new park and I love seeing it enjoyed by so many people. And do not worry, dear Kerry, our country girl Charley simply does not like city parks;0) She gives you an extra hug. xo Johanna
Such lovely photos. I think the last time I was in Cinci was in 1970. Went to the Shubert Theatre to see the Broadway production of “Aquarius.” Then out to eat at a German restaurant. I still remember the authentic meal I had. Delicious! HA! I suppose Cinci has changed a bit since then. 😉
The theaters arestill great and you can still find authentic German food. This is just another part that is rejuvenated and beautified…it makes life better for everyone. xo Johanna

What a beautiful waterfront. Everything I know about Cincinnati is through the tv show “wkrp” in Cincinnati — my how things have changed since then! Glad you had a visit with your son, and friend.

Cincinnati is one of my favorite cities. I’ve never seen it at night, though. Your photographs have shown me what I’ve missed. It is lovely to see it through the eyes of your visitor from Hong Kong. Hi Johanna, I get a real kick out of your excitement for when your boys are home. That is so heartwarming and dear to hear you gush. I just took the virtual tour of Smale Riverfront Park. Wow! An awesome asset to the city for sure. I especially like the Cascade water feature and rain curtains.
It’s no doubt of favourite for visitors and locals alike. We have nice riverfront in Edmonton but they haven’t developed it as they could. I wish they’d watch the video at the Smale site for inspiration. Your photo’s are always inspiring. I haven’t had much luck with night photography but probably have the wrong camera too. Do you bother with a tripod? I saw you shared the ‘long exposure’ tip with one of your visitors. For me, hand held seems really hard with a long exposure. I think they were smart to light it all up at night! The bridge is a real Gem.
Love the Carasel in a glass box too. a ride on seemed really well priced at only $2.00. Have you been on it? I always love Carasel music, it’s very nostalgic. Not unlike myself 😀 xo K
