And the only moose of the trip…whilst Mr. Walker and I were bravely hiking further uphill, our Fantastic Friends decided it was time for a break for them and don’t you know it…But fair enough, it was their first moose. We have seen plenty in Maine and Vermont…but still…

  1. I love the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole. There is a town right by JH that is called Moose. Thank you for sharing your beautiful images, you confirmed it is one of the great gems!

  2. This place looks like the real wilderness – and the moose proves it! Just beautiful Johanna! I am sure you have all been truly invigorated and enlivened by the places you’ve been and the sights you have seen!! xo

  3. Gorgeous shots! I have seen that moose’s expression on Cupcake sometimes. He’s like, “I SEE you, but I won’t LOOK at you.” Cupcake truly believes if she doesn’t look at me she’s invisible, so she can’t possibly be in trouble.

    • Well, actually the Moose was saying ” This is OK but do not come any nearer” The photo was made by Dutch friend who had no clue about Moose ( wildlife in the Netherlands is very scares) And this fellow just popped out of the bushes…a parkranger chased my friends away from them …tourists! xo Johanna

      • Crazy! My dad used to say when he worked at Yellowstone in the 30s (I’ve got some early posts on it), they would tell people to never approach any of the wild animals. But there were those who always did and some paid a high price.

  4. Wow, the picture right before the moose is amazing!!!!! Your friends were very lucky with the moose. I hope that was telephoto. They can be defensive about their territory. Goodness, what a photo.

  5. You’ve seen moose in Vermont?! I live right next to Vermont and go there about once a week and I’ve never seen a moose! No fair! Your friends appear to have gotten very close! Your photos are spectacular–look at the color of the sky! You really had an amazing trip.
