Saturday!

Tomorrow is my favorite day of the week! Charley wonders if the weather is good enough for a hike or if visitors will come?  Well what more makes a good Saturday ?

Definitely a good breakfast! (best GF breakfast ever!)

A trip to Findlay Market…myohmyohmy the colors are so pretty there

IMG_1226
We buy there the best tea and coffee and Mr.Walker’s sourdough breads.

IMG_1223
How splendid can you look in a cowboy hat underneath one of the best signs ever?

IMG_1232
Excellent healthy street food for lunch, sitting on a bench and watching other market shoppers go by…and they are watching us of course.

This area down town is becoming more beautiful each time we go there!

IMG_1233
Whilst we are downtown, we might as well visit the Cincinnati Art Museum…even the Bicycle Rack is artful there.

When home again, a good nap is in order!

And we finish the day with an excellent BBQ, all local food!

  1. Charley, you and your mom sure know how to have fun. Your downtown is very pretty. And I’m happy you got a nap in there after so much excitement. Weekends are the best!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  2. This looks like my idea of a perfect day (except I would need to add ice cream!) Good food, a stroll through a vibrant neighborhood, a nap . . . lovely. Hope tomorrow lives up to this ideal, Johanna!

  3. Hi Johanna, The market looks so appealing with many people being relaxed and summery.
My Saturday typically includes a visit to the local Wesley Hill market where I do a lot of my fruit and vegetable shopping. After a lazy lunch, I usually take my dog, Katie, and an aunt’s dog, Gypsy, for a walk.

    • I had a peek at your market..so many exotic things (to me) it looks amazing! Findlay market is a relaxed place and very important for Cincinnati as it is located in a very challenged neighborhood . In the last 10 years it has brought so much goodness there!

  4. How lovely going for a walk with you! A wonderful market, that’s for sure. And my oh my the food, especially breakfast!

  5. I didn’t realize you were from Nati City, home of my Alma Mater UC College of Design Architecture and Art. What a great town. I still miss it. N.

    • Yes, you mentioned that before! We are from The Netherlands and lived in Canada too but love living in Cincinnati (despite the summer heat) It is for sure on the way up again and Findlay market has brought a lot of goodness in a challenging neighborhood, that makes it even more enjoyable. Xo Johanna

  6. Johanna, I love your photos (I can’t figure out how to watermark at all…) and the story of your Saturdays. Being a guest at your house would be a real treat! (Is that you on the coffee sign??)

  7. Good morning, Johanna,
You should have tol me earlier about THAT breakfast: I would have come by! 😉 It sure looks fantastic. Makes me want to cook a good breakfast on Sunday morning. Maybe I will.
I wouldn’t have tought you have such colourful houses up there. Thanks for taking me around. 🙂
That BBQ looks yummy, too. I don’t know when we’ll get our pit out again, but definitely soon.
    Have a great weekend,
    Pit

    • That breakfast has been called Serious and Epic…I did not ate it all ;o)
And I think Ohio is the same as you explained about Texas. It makes quite a difference to be North or South, even in climate and landscape. Cincinnati is right on the Ohio River and it airport is in Kentucky! People talk with that delicious Southern drawl here
” Hey Y’all” etc. Those colorful house are called Painted Ladies.

  8. Johanna, I live in Cincinnati, too, and you definitely experienced many of the wonderful highlights on your outing. OTR is one of our favorite places to visit on the weekend as well as the Smale Park areas – so much to offer! Cheers to a good weekend 🙂

  9. Thank you for this treat. First, I love dogs, and I love Charlie ‘ s poise. Such a sweet dog. All the food looks great, especially considering I’m commenting while sitting on the bus heading home for supper. That fuschia building in Findlay Market, that’s an illustrator ‘ s dream. Have a great weekend, Johanna.

  10. What a day! Charley’s pooped out and all that yummy food, Jo. I’m surprised you’re not a little more…umm..chubby!! *wink The market area looks very friendly; I like buildings that have their own window flowerpots, makes it so colourful and cheerful. 🙂

  11. What a wonderful marketplace to visit and spend some time. Beautiful photos, Johanna. My, my, but you are obviously one great gourmet cook! And, of course, I’m loving the pics of sweet Charley. Hope your weekend is all you wished❣ 😄

  12. The food alone would make it a good day. Yum, yum, and yum. My favorite photo, however, is Charley’s examination of the day outside.

  13. Your photos really allowed us to feel, see, and enjoy your day with you. Super!
And that photo of Charley is wonderful

  14. Glorious photos, one and all, though I nearly melted into a puddle at the shot of Charlie napping on the bed. What a great city to explore. Those bike racks are a work of art.

  15. Looked like a wonderful day! Charley, Markets and all that food…the breakfast must be for lumberjacks! 😀 You’ve got a great eye for things and all your photo’s turned out so splendiferous! Love the coffee sign too….did you design it? Is it Charley in the sign? Just a guess.
I came looking for Charley via her own link. I’ve been needing a bit of a fix 😀 Little sleepy head looked out like a light. Our market invites your dog with too, I think thats awesome. Alys and I went to our market when she was here too. We ate cookies and cold drinks and bought more to bring home. But I also love looking at all the artful creations. It’s outdoors here until late September and them moves into our City Hall for the long dark winter…..eeeek, exnay on the winter eh xoxo k

    • I have no problem imagine Alys and you chitchatting whilst looking at the Googles at the market! Charley gives a big hug to you and alas, just like her mom…we are waiting (Im)patiently for cold weather to arise invigorated again! And no…that coffee sign was not creation of mine, but it is a great one, right? Xoxo

  16. I will make a point to explore Cincinnati soon. I grew up an hour away and probably have been there about three times ever. Findlay Market looks like my kind of place!
