Well I could have made dozens of posts with snapshots from the family album…but all good things come to an end as they say. Just a few more ‘vista’s’ and than back to the order of the day, I’d say. The Rocky Mountains will become a subject for daydreaming until our next visit there.
The hikes were so superb with so many different landscapes. Lovely luscious greens to almost moonlike surfaces.
Talking about the moon: this was the Harvest Moon 2016…magnificent!
Literally walking with our heads in the clouds.
After the long hot summer, how refreshing to see snow and feel invigorated!
This is the view from underneath St. Mary’s Glacier.
You never know what awaits you around the next corner…
And btw, this calm little stream is the Colorado River..it starts here like this. Yes, the same Colorado River that dug out the Grand Canyon!
Love and Liefs, Johanna
What wonderful memories! And photos. I’m sure there are one or two photos here that would make interesting sketches, yes! π
Thanks Jan!
Just lovely Johanna! You Harvest Moon is our Spring Planting Moon – isn’t that wonderful! Your photo of the elk antlers emerging is excellently timed π
That was a very cooperative elk indeed ;o)
Simply gorgeous! I can see why you love this part of the country so much!
Thank you Carol. yes, I think I could even live there!
How beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
you are welcome, I am happy you love it!
Wow, wow, and wow! What photos!
Thank you ;o)
I ‘oohed’ and ‘ahhed’ my way through your photos. The moon and the bird in flight really are tremendous shots.
Thank you Judy!
You take such unusual and wonderful shots, Johanna! You really see the world in your own special way–and I’m so glad you share it with us regularly!
That is an absolute lovely thing to say!! xo
Love your pictures! You visited at exactly the right time. The cold and snow have arrived up high and the first ski run opened yesterday. Next stop, winter in Colorado! π
I did not realize you live in Colorado. Anywhere close to Boulder? Or are you closer to Aspen?
I live in Aurora, which is just east of Denver, but I am up near Boulder on a regular basis as my son lives there. It’s only an hour drive for me to get into the mountains and I go to Estes Park every year for the Wool Market. Any day in the mountains is a good day. π
Thnak you for taking the time and getting back at me!! Now the wool market in Estes park…how perfect a place is that!!! I am curious, do you like living in Aurora?
ps I did a search on Estes Wool Market…wow!
What wonderful shots. I especially like the raptor (no idea what it is) caught in a ray of sunlight and the elk heads and antlers peeking above the hilltop. Sweet.
That was a very cooperative elk indeed ;o)
Gorgeous photosπ
Thank you George, glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful photos ..I love the bird circling … and the Elks emerging .. What a beautiful part of the world.
I agree! ;o) and thank you for the compliment!
Beautiful photos Johanna! I started to list the ones I liked the best and found that I loved them all! I can tell by your shots that the air was sharp and clear and the scenery!!! Wow!!! I like your shot from underneath the glacier – cool! π
Thanks Clare, that’s an excellent start of my day!
π
So beautiful!
Thank you Nora, i am happy you think so!
The harvest moon is my favourite moon! Well done on getting that shot the moon can be hard to photograph π
Can you believe it..I took from the car ( I was not driving though ;o))
Really! Great idea. You can keep warm while photographing x
Such beauty in your photos! π Thanks so much for sharing them, Johanna! π
You are welcome!!! xoxox
Hi Johanna, I enjoyed reading your series of posts about your trip to the Rocky Mountains. The weather gods smiled on you for the length of your holiday. Everything looks so bright and sunny with beautiful blue skies. The photographs of the wild life are very interesting. A lot of our animals in Australia are nocturnal, so seeing lots of creatures scampering around during the day is not something we experience.
Denver claims to have over 300 sunny days a year. For us the most delightful part of it was the low temperature and no humidity. I am happy you enjoyed it all!
The glacier photo and the one of the innocent-looking Colorado River is wonderful and very timely as Farm Girl is studying the how water shapes the landscape and these are perfect examples. What a gorgeous part of the world!
Such bliss that I contribute a little to Farm Girls hard work!
Such luck to know someone with such a wonderful eye π
Johanna, the pictures from your trip are beautiful. Sigh… the mountains. They remain in my heart as one of the most glorious places on earth. xoxo
Kindred Spirits!!
So glad you had such a great trip. Thank you so much for sharing the beginning of the Colorado. Wonderful!!
Wow! Stunning photos!!!
Thank you!!!
You are so welcome!
