More Wildlife From the Rocky Mountains

dsc_2421

I cannot describe how it feels for me to hike early in the morning and see the beautiful scenery Mother Nature created and the privilege of watching her inhabitants up close and personal. The mighty elks were rutting..what a magnificent sight and sound. Just like last year in Yellow Stone park.

Ground squirrel..much smaller than the marmot.

Finally the amazing blue Steller’s jay..not really rare but so hard to get in front of the camera!

Mule Deer, I love those enormous big ears. This is a baby.

dsc_2475

Naughty chipmunks everywhere…this cheeky fellow ran over my shoulder , jumped right in my backpack and ran of with my plantain chips!! And ate them and stashed them right under my nose!!! I had a good laugh ;o) See how fat he is…also ready for winter!

Not sure what hawk this is…

dsc_2120

The beautiful grey jay, they are so tame!

Uhm…sheep???

We also saw a bear..a black teenager bear, right next to the hiking path. It was beautiful and enjoying lots of berries. We startled each other…and it ran of quickly: that was beautiful too!

Spring Valley Wildlife Area Revistited

DSC_6921

Mr. Walker and I took advantage of glorious Spring weather and went back to our favorite birding spot Spring Valley Wildlife Area. It was midwinter when we last went there.

We were not disappointed. Look at this Osprey…as if he surfing the air on a fish.

The beautiful but ever so shy Sora. You have to look closely, so well camouflaged!

Ahw, sweet little frog, basking in the sunshine

This is a mystery…what animal did this?

DSC_6894

Mr. Walker’s favorite bird, the swallow.

And look at these geese landing…after this we scurried along, they were pretty clear and loud in what they thought about us…

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Spring Valley Wildlife Area

DSC_5875

Yesterday Mr. Walker and I went for a hike at our favorite birdwatching spot, the Spring Valley Wildlife Area. Well..the lake was frozen over so not a bird in sight!

DSC_5869

However, the weather was gorgeous and it all looked beautiful.

DSC_5908

And we were keen to use our new lens (11mm to 16 mm) lens for outdoor photography.

DSC_5902

I think, we made some nice shots here. Although, with Mother Nature so pretty, you cannot go wrong now, can you?

DSC_5911
