Toronto & Art

You are probably familiar with the fact that both of my sons, The Young Misters Walker, study, work and live in Toronto. They are very close and share an apartment. We are close as a family and modern communication provides us with ample opportunities to be a close long distance family.IMG_1072

But nothing beats seeing my boys for real and since their schedule is pretty crazy, I travel to them more often. And often Mr. Walker, their devoted father, travels with me.This summer we went there a couple of times and here some snapshots from the family album.

Toronto is a great city (apart from its crazy traffic!!!) We love going there and visit its many beautiful museums and pretty neighborhoods. There is always something beautiful to admire.

The AGO is our favorite museum. The building itself is already gorgeous, Mr. Walker took a long time taking some good shots….

…Youngest Mr. Walker and I got impatient and studied some dance moves. The Oldest Young Mr. Walker considered giving himself up for adoption.

Oh, and the Bata Shoe Museum!! A must see for every fashionista! The best of both worlds, art and fashion!!!

Finally saw Casa Loma…as a little girl I dreamt of having a bedroom like this! Maybe more towards the Kitsch here?

Fantastic food is every where in Toronto but I highly recommend Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu Korean restaurant on Bloor street..this is the BEST food in the whole world and that is an art in itself! (they do not have a website)

  1. The shoe museum information is leading me right to the Amtrac website to see how long it would take to get from Chicago to Toronto. I think it is a short trip. I am inspired to see Toronto.

  2. I LOVE the car that became a garden!! And you and the youngest Young Mister Walker studying your dance moves………. I hope the oldest Young Mister Walker found a suitable family to adopt him …………. Oh, and the castle 🙂 [Every young girls dream.] What a lovely city and a lovely family!! ❤

  3. What a great blog. I hope to visit Toronto again. For a short time my parents lived in St. Catharines. I was in grade 4 and I’ll never forget being in the car arriving in Toronto and thinking now I’m in a big city, because I could not see the tops of the buildings through the car window.

Great photographs. Must definitely see the Bata Shoe Museum.

    • I visited Toronto first time in 1986 and Canada Wonderland was in the middle of a meadow, surrounding by the country side…now thecity limits have surpassed it. It is such a huge city!!!

  4. Welcome back to Canada Johanna and Mr Walker 😀 You’ve seen some pretty interesting sites and strike a lovely long pose there at the AGO….I’m thinking the older young Mr Walker was envious after all.
Loving the fun graphic arts for the signage at the Bata Shoe Museum a lot. How clever of the artists. Have a great time! ❤

    • Of course, here it is: you can use any pie shell you like for a 9 inch pie. Pre heat oven at 350. Separate 3 eggs.Beat egg whites stiff. Cream 2 tbsp of butter/margarine/coconut oil with 1/3 cup of sugar and 3 egg yolks. Add 2 tbs of flour, 1 tsp salt, juice and rind of 1 lemon and 1 cup of (almond) milk. Mix well and fold in the egg whites. Pour in your pie shell and bake for 45 minutes..be careful to bake it not too long, it gets a little tough than. I find the pie the next day from the fridge even tastier!

  5. Thanks for sharing your family snaps. Toronto looks like a fabulous place to visit, especially when family lives there! I love your dance moves. How embarrassing! Not! Oh yes, I wanted a bedroom like that in a castle, just like that. Then a handsome prince would have come and rescued me! 🙂

  6. The photo of the mother and son dancers made me laugh out loud (and empathize with the older Mr. Walkerson!) I’ve been to Toronto several times but your photos make me realize how much I missed when I was there–I guess I’ll need to go back!

  7. It’s surprising how often one or t’other Homesteader threatens adoption for similar public displays but happily they always reconsider. Toronto looks like a place I’d enjoy…one day maybe 😊 xxx

  8. I love your family photos – it is so nice to be a complete family again after living apart for a while. We will be seeing my elder daughter very soon and I am so looking forward to it! Toronto looks fabulous – I’d love to visit it one day.

  9. So much to love in this post, particularly the dance moves! 🙂
The urban art is wonderful, too. The image of the apartment building balconies really appeals to me.

  10. There’s such fun to be had in Toronto, it seems. The Bata shoe museum must be amazing; do you think one could find the perfect shoe in there? 🙂 Bata shoes were very popular when I was in India, and I found them very comfortable and colourful. They were made in India. Did you ever wear Bata shoes?
