You are probably familiar with the fact that both of my sons, The Young Misters Walker, study, work and live in Toronto. They are very close and share an apartment. We are close as a family and modern communication provides us with ample opportunities to be a close long distance family.
But nothing beats seeing my boys for real and since their schedule is pretty crazy, I travel to them more often. And often Mr. Walker, their devoted father, travels with me.This summer we went there a couple of times and here some snapshots from the family album.
Toronto is a great city (apart from its crazy traffic!!!) We love going there and visit its many beautiful museums and pretty neighborhoods. There is always something beautiful to admire.
The AGO is our favorite museum. The building itself is already gorgeous, Mr. Walker took a long time taking some good shots….
…Youngest Mr. Walker and I got impatient and studied some dance moves. The Oldest Young Mr. Walker considered giving himself up for adoption.
Best cup of tea ever there…that to me is art every day!
Oh, and the Bata Shoe Museum!! A must see for every fashionista! The best of both worlds, art and fashion!!!
Finally saw Casa Loma…as a little girl I dreamt of having a bedroom like this! Maybe more towards the Kitsch here?
Fantastic food is every where in Toronto but I highly recommend Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu Korean restaurant on Bloor street..this is the BEST food in the whole world and that is an art in itself! (they do not have a website)
Have a great weekend!
Love and Liefs, Johanna
I envision you taking lots of photos not only for the family but for reference for future drawings. 🙂
always too much….
The shoe museum information is leading me right to the Amtrac website to see how long it would take to get from Chicago to Toronto. I think it is a short trip. I am inspired to see Toronto.
Ginene
I hope you will love it!!!
I LOVE the car that became a garden!! And you and the youngest Young Mister Walker studying your dance moves………. I hope the oldest Young Mister Walker found a suitable family to adopt him …………. Oh, and the castle 🙂 [Every young girls dream.] What a lovely city and a lovely family!! ❤
Thank you so much!! And no, Young Mr. walker, the Oldest, changed his mind after we behaved again, as always ;o)
Thanks for taking us along…great dance moves! (K)
You are welcome ;o)
Looks like a very inviting city, I can’t wait to visit someday. Was that a raw egg in the soup? Not sure I’m quite that adventurous.
Well it is a raw eggs, but that tofu soup is steaming hot and than you ass all these goodies…the egg poaches in the soup and after 10 minutes, it is so good!!!
We’ve tried to visit Toronto a couple of times but never made it. I have to get there…:)
I hope you will!!!
What a great blog. I hope to visit Toronto again. For a short time my parents lived in St. Catharines. I was in grade 4 and I’ll never forget being in the car arriving in Toronto and thinking now I’m in a big city, because I could not see the tops of the buildings through the car window.
Great photographs. Must definitely see the Bata Shoe Museum.
I visited Toronto first time in 1986 and Canada Wonderland was in the middle of a meadow, surrounding by the country side…now thecity limits have surpassed it. It is such a huge city!!!
What fun and what great photos. I have never seen a car used as a planter, but it’s an idea, isn’t it? I love your dance moves.
Thanks Lisa…we did our best ;o)
Delightful post. 🙂 How lovely that you are a close knit family! I am close with my family, too, and feel very grateful for that. The pictures are great! Haha – I especially love the dancing poses! Lol. Have a wonderful weekend, Johanna! Xoxo
I ma happy you enjoyed it all so much!
Welcome back to Canada Johanna and Mr Walker 😀 You’ve seen some pretty interesting sites and strike a lovely long pose there at the AGO….I’m thinking the older young Mr Walker was envious after all.
Loving the fun graphic arts for the signage at the Bata Shoe Museum a lot. How clever of the artists. Have a great time! ❤
Toronto keeps on entertaining us for sure!
Lovely pictures and post! I always thing Canada must be a wonderful place to live!
It is a great and beautiful country but we were happy in The Netherlands and now again IN America too. Lovely people everywhere!
Thanks for the walk dear Johanna and you regular i.e. Hellos on my side .. I would love to bake the lemon pie .. Is it possible to give me the recipe .. Thanks !!
Of course, here it is: you can use any pie shell you like for a 9 inch pie. Pre heat oven at 350. Separate 3 eggs.Beat egg whites stiff. Cream 2 tbsp of butter/margarine/coconut oil with 1/3 cup of sugar and 3 egg yolks. Add 2 tbs of flour, 1 tsp salt, juice and rind of 1 lemon and 1 cup of (almond) milk. Mix well and fold in the egg whites. Pour in your pie shell and bake for 45 minutes..be careful to bake it not too long, it gets a little tough than. I find the pie the next day from the fridge even tastier!
Thanks for sharing your family snaps. Toronto looks like a fabulous place to visit, especially when family lives there! I love your dance moves. How embarrassing! Not! Oh yes, I wanted a bedroom like that in a castle, just like that. Then a handsome prince would have come and rescued me! 🙂
I hope indeed you have a wonderful prince in life, Norah and I am happy you enjoyed it all!
I do! Thanks. 🙂
The photo of the mother and son dancers made me laugh out loud (and empathize with the older Mr. Walkerson!) I’ve been to Toronto several times but your photos make me realize how much I missed when I was there–I guess I’ll need to go back!
The oldest one has his own act to make the family laugh/embarrassed ;o)
He had to, in self-defense!
It’s surprising how often one or t’other Homesteader threatens adoption for similar public displays but happily they always reconsider. Toronto looks like a place I’d enjoy…one day maybe 😊 xxx
Ha, once we behaved again…he changed his mind too ;o)
They always do…thankfully (otherwise we’d have to behave all the time 🙂 )
;o)
It looks like a beautiful city, and even better to see it while with your family! Thanks for sharing photos.
Your welcome and I am glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting snapshots, Johanna. Thanks for sharing. They give me plentu of insight in htis city.
Have a great weekend,
Pit
You are welcome!
I love your family photos – it is so nice to be a complete family again after living apart for a while. We will be seeing my elder daughter very soon and I am so looking forward to it! Toronto looks fabulous – I’d love to visit it one day.
have a great time with oldest one Clare!!!
Thank-you Johanna. We met up with her today and had a lovely time 🙂
Johanna, this makes me want to go to Toronto. The design of the museum suggests creativity, and Casa Loma looks beautiful. :o)
It is a wonderful city indeed Paul!
Someone once told me that Toronto even has something like 20 miles of underground walkways! That would be amazing to see.
That’s is correct! It’s called the Path and very convenient in wintertime…however it is a bit eerie and it is filled with little (expensive) shops) One of those things you have to see once. : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PATH_(Toronto)
Really enjoyed the pics !
And I am glad they did!
So much to love in this post, particularly the dance moves! 🙂
The urban art is wonderful, too. The image of the apartment building balconies really appeals to me.
Those are new building and sun has a hard time reaching those balconies, the colors make it sparkle. i thought that really clever and pretty!
Thanks for the wonderful tour!
You are welcome xo
What fun! I am glad you had such a good time!:) Thanks for sharing the tour!
You are welcome Sabine!
You make me smile! You have 3 wonderful men in your life! 🙂
I ma blessed indeed ;o)
There’s such fun to be had in Toronto, it seems. The Bata shoe museum must be amazing; do you think one could find the perfect shoe in there? 🙂 Bata shoes were very popular when I was in India, and I found them very comfortable and colourful. They were made in India. Did you ever wear Bata shoes?
I love the grass car and the beautiful castle and especially you and Youngest Mr. Walker doing dance moves. 🙂 Joyful post, Johanna! 🙂
Thnak you hanna!!!
I´ve never been to Toronto, but I sure would like to visit someday! Those photos are totally amazing! I especially like the one with the grass in the car…so original! 🙂
I am glad you liked it all so much!
Toronto is defenitely full of art!
I had no idea how artsy Toronto is! ❤️ great pictures !! Followed you ☺️
